How to move the Start button and menu in Windows 11

Many users are familiar with and used to the Start elements in Windows being on the left side of the screen. In Windows 11, Microsoft moved these features to the middle of the taskbar by default. For help moving the Start button and Start menu back to the left side of the screen, as in previous versions of Windows, follow the steps below.

How to move the Start button and Start menu

  1. Right-click any blank area on the taskbar at the bottom of the Windows desktop.
  2. Select Taskbar settings from the pop-up menu.

  1. In the Settings menu, scroll down and click Taskbar behaviors to expand the section.

  1. In the expanded Taskbar behaviors section, next to Taskbar alignment, click the box with the down arrow.

  1. Select Left from the drop-down menu.

You should now see the Windows Start elements moved to the left side of the desktop.
